Normalization of 55 polling stations is almost complete, Plh Mayor of Bandung: Kang Pisman must keep rolling

The normalization of 55 polling stations in the city of Bandung has shown significant progress. The Bandung City Environment Service (DLH) said that out of 55 TPS, only 2 TPS were in the process of being normalized.

Even though waste management in the city of Bandung is showing a positive trend, the Bandung Mayor's Daily Executive, Ema Sumarna, emphasizes that long-term management efforts must continue.

One of them is the implementation of the Kang Pisman program evenly throughout the city of Bandung.

“The number of residents in the city of Bandung continues to grow. It is impossible for us individually not to produce waste. So, I think we need to unite our understanding in waste management," said Ema in the Socialization of Kang Pisman in Sarijadi Village, Bandung City, Sunday 28 May 2023.

Ema added, despite the normalization of TPS and the improvement in conditions at the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA), this was only temporary. This means that the waste problem still has the potential to become a ticking time bomb for the city of Bandung.

“Every day garbage is produced. If we wait for investment-based treatment, we think it will take a long time. However, we have an extraordinary Kang Pisman program," said Ema.

"Currently there are 154 Garbage Free Areas in the city of Bandung. Of course this is still far from ideal because it is only 10 percent of the entire RW area in Bandung City. We have homework to complete 90 percent of it," he explained.

He also requested that the entire region should be a good example for other regions. Ema gave an example of the success stories of several areas in the City of Bandung that could become Waste Free Areas (KBS).

"(Operational TPA) Sarimukti has a time limit. We don't want the Leuwigajah tragedy to repeat itself. And if (waste handling) in RW 12 Maleer can do it, RW 02 Cipamokolan can do it, I have confidence that in this area it can also be implemented (implementation of Kang Pisman)," said Ema.

For information, 2 polling stations which are still in the process of normalization based on data from DLH Bandung City are Gumuruh TPS and Suci TPS.

Even so, the Head of DLH for Bandung City, Dudi Prayudi, ensured that the normalization of the 2 TPS could be carried out as soon as possible.

In line with Ema, Dudi said that the normalization of TPS and the operational improvement of Sarimukti TPA were not the end of waste management efforts in the city of Bandung.

He considered that the implementation of Kang Pisman was one of the most effective efforts. This is proven by the fact that the area that implemented Kang Pisman was not affected by operational problems at the Sarimukti TPA some time ago.

"We also believe that the Sarimukti TPA will not last long. But we need to realize, when there is a buildup of garbage in the city of Bandung, the RWs that apply Kang Pisman have no problems," said Dudi. (ray)**
