"We are part of Indonesia. It is imperative to maintain unity in the midst of diversity. Moreover, the city of Bandung is a miniature republic, from Sabang to Merauke there are people living in the city of Bandung. We are proud of that. We can live in peace," said the Acting Mayor of Bandung. , Ema Sumarna at the Ceremony Commemorating the Birth of Pancasila, at Bandung City Hall, Thursday 1 June 2023.

Ema said, by commemorating the Birth of Pancasila, Bandung City residents must take care of life in the midst of differences.

"It means how we must continue to care for life in the midst of diversity. This is a fixed price," he said.

Pancasila as the basis of ideology, continued Ema, also as a way of life. It becomes a weapon to unite various diversities.

"That is our weapon of strength. Pancasila is able to unite various diversities, pluralism, ethnicity to religion," said Ema.

With a life full of tolerance, Ema believes, the city of Bandung is always in a conducive state.

"We've never had a conflict. That shows the maturity of community life as a nation and state in the city of Bandung. That's extraordinary," he said.

Therefore, said Ema, the younger generation, especially Gen Z, must continue to learn to understand the struggles of heroes. So that Pancasila, can be applied in everyday life.

"You have to learn to understand how historical struggles are. These five precepts become one pillar of strength, they cannot be separated," said Ema.

He said Pancasila was tested when the problems faced by the nation were not just ideology, but also various issues such as disintegration, discrimination, intolerance, and conflicts between groups.

"This challenge must be anticipated, because it is related to the constitutional mandate which requires all components of the nation to uphold Pancasila consistently," he said.

Moreover, in 2024 the city of Bandung will carry out a democratic party. For Ema, the potential for conflict, disturbance of security and order, and other threats to people's lives tends to increase.

"Even though the potential threat is relatively small in the city of Bandung, we must remain vigilant and anticipatory. Namely by strengthening the character of the people who are tough, intelligent and uphold the values of Pancasila," hoped Ema. (yan)**
