Yana: The government should not be a frog in a shell

Improving population services is a community right that must be fulfilled by the government. The Bandung City Government will continue to improve services to the community with several programs such as the GEULIS program (Outlets for Special Services) and MEPELING services.

In order to gather aspirations related to improving public services, the Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil) of Bandung City together with dozens of Regional Apparatus Work Units (SKPD) throughout the City of Bandung discussed together in the Public Consultation Forum (FKP) activity, Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Various government sectors, from vertical elements to grass-root elements, were present to provide their aspirations. This FKP received a positive response from the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana.

"We have twice in a row received appreciation from the central government with very good marks for excellent service at the Disdukcapil," said Yana.

On this occasion, Yana also said that improving population services is a community right that must be fulfilled by the government.

"Hopefully in the future we can provide services to the public properly, correctly, quickly, cheaply and fairly," he hoped.

Especially in the midst of this pandemic, Yana assessed, on the one hand it brings difficulties, but on the other hand it can bring blessings.

"Because during the pandemic, almost all of our friends in the service innovate. So they can provide services to the community by reducing direct interaction from those who need services with service providers, but still maximally," he said.

Yana emphasized that this FKP should be a place for healthy discussion. Exchange ideas and be open to receiving input.

"We don't want to be frogs in a shell, we feel we are right. In this case, the Disdukcapil must open itself up to be able to receive input in order to improve the services of the City of Bandung to the community," said Yana.

The Head of Disdukcapil Bandung, Tatang Muhtar, also conveyed the same thing. Tatang admitted that through this FKP, he got a lot of input about what kind of services the community needed.

"In this FKP, we get a common perception in finding solutions to the obstacles we find in the field. One of them is the use of population administration documents," said Tatang.

This population administration service, said Tatang, will try to be improved again to help the community's needs. Several Disdukcapil programs that take the form of 'pick up the ball' include GEULIS services (Outlets for Special Services) and MEPELING services.

"We will also improve existing services in accordance with the service notices that have been agreed upon at the FKP. However, we will continue to evaluate them periodically and improve them together," he explained. (din)*
