Bandrek, an Impressive Basketball Team of Civil Servants of the Bandung City Government
Bandung ASN Daraek Basket (Bandrek) is a basketball team with members of the Bandung City Government ASN. Im basketball started in 2010 when I met fellow ASN who had a hobby of playing basketball. At that time there were 12 players and often practiced at GOR C-tra.
There is an impressive basketball team who are ready to compete in Bandung City. Its name is ASN Daraek Basket (Bandrek)
Uniquely, all the members are civil servants from the Bandung City Governement.
Hadi Surahman, the Point Guard and Captain of the Bandrek team, stated that the basketball team was formed in 2010. He met civil servant colleagues who were also into basketball. There were 12 players who frequently practiced in GOR C-tra.
“It was formed because of the hobby. We are not a group of athletes, but rather a group who have a similar hobby. After every new civil servant inauguration, we usually ask who are interested in joining the Bandrek team,” he said.
As time went by, there was a Regional Governments Sports Week (Porpemda) of West Java in 2011. The team then joined this event.
“I am grateful that in 2011, in Cirebon, there was the Porpemda. For the first time, in exhibitions, there was basketball,” he said.
“The second exhibition was in Kuningan, which was no longer an exhibition, but it was rather a routine basketball competition to win a medal,” he said.
He said that in facing tournaments, Bandrek routinely practices weekly in beebucks field, Halimun St., every Friday.
Currently, Bandrek team has 40 members who actively practice. If there are civil servants who want to join in practicing, they could access their Instagram @bandrekbasketball.
Currently, Bandrek is competing in an invitational tournament of the Governor Trophy (Piala Gubernur) GOR SPORT West Java Arcamanik.
“The closest tournament is Porpemda that is planned to be held in Kuningan Regency, West Java, in July or August,” he said.
Additionally, the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, supported Bandrek to achieve more accomplishments.
“The Bandung City Government supports Bandung residents’ spirit in sports, as it could recover economic activities in regions. Particularly, in the Covid-19 pandemic, we have to exercise to live healthily,” Yana said. (asy)**
