Karang Taruna of Bandung City supports the Bandung City Government in constructing several youth spaces. This is because youth spaces can provide room for young people to generate insights, creativities, and new innovations.

Thus, the Head of Karang Taruna of Bandung City, Andri Gunawan, expected the Bandung City Government to increase the number of youth spaces in Bandung City, including in Bojongloa Kaler areas.

According to Andri, although they had not had a youth space, young people in Bojongloa Kaler areas had been actively involved in activities.

“The activities are underway. Some learn for paket B and C, practicing muaythai, jaipong dance. At night, there are lots of MSMEs,” said Andri when meeting with the Acting Mayor of Bandung City in the City Hall of Bandung City, Monday, 28 March 2022.

Andri said that such activities were carried out in a building formerly used as a public health centre. He hoped that the building could be constructed into a youth space by the Bandung City Government.

“Although a youth space has not been built yet, people’s enthusiasm and energy are remarkable. They are eager to accommodate their creativity,” he said.

Hearing that, the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulyana, became more convinced that Karang Taruna possessed huge energy to help with the Bandung City Government’s programs.

He then ascertained that they would prioritize the construction of the youth space in Bojongloa Kaler.

“We prioritize the youth space in Bojongloa Kaler. Usually, we build the building first, followed by the activities. In Bojongloa Kaler, the activities are afoot, it just requires a revitalization to make them more optimum,” he said.

“I hope that the construction of youth space in Bojongloa Kaler could provide a place for young people to generate insights that can be developed into products of innovations. In the future, it will boost the economic recovery in Bandung City,” he emphasized.

In the same place, the Head of Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) of Bandung City, Edi Marwoto, explained that although the land in Bojongloa Kaler was not built yet, but it had been on the priority list.

“The land that was used as a public health centre is already on the priority list for constructions in 2022,” Edi said.

“Hopefully, it will immediately be built and realized in 2022 so that their activities become more optimum,” he said. (asy)**
