Two barongs dance to the rhythm of drums and trumpets to mark the opening of the Cultural Safari performance along Jalan Tubagus Ismail VII, Sekeloa Village, Coblong District, Saturday, June 18, 2022.

This activity was initiated by the Bandung City Youth Organization. After two years of being on hiatus, this time the Cultural Safari was held again.

This activity is one form of the youth of Bandung in preserving Sundanese cultural arts. Not only Ulin Barong, there were also performances of pencak silat and jaipongan.

Ulin Barong Sekeloa is one of the arts that characterizes Sekeloa residents. This art has been preserved from generation to generation and until now.

Responding positively to this activity, the Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana said, with the downgrading of the status of the City of Bandung to PPKM level 1, public activities began to receive relaxation.

"After two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, thank God we can do cultural arts activities again. This is partly thanks to our vaccinations, which are more than 100 percent," Yana explained.

Even though it has been sloping, Yana appealed to the public to maintain health protocols, at least be disciplined in using masks.

This Cultural Safari will be held in 30 sub-districts in the city of Bandung. The starting point starts in Coblong District.

The head of the Bandung Youth Youth Organization, Andri Gunawan, said he was happy because the community could gather together again after two years.

"For two years we have lived in limitations. Now we can gather and laugh together. This is all thanks to the government, youth of Karang Taruna, and especially health workers," said Andri.

For Andri, although most of the Karang Taruna are not from conglomerates, they have done a lot for the city of Bandung.

"There are those who collect money from the results of the motorbike taxis so they can buy oxygen for people in need," he said.

In addition, on this occasion, Yana also provided cash for cleaning staff who continued to carry out their duties even in the midst of a pandemic. (din)**
