This red light has also earned the nickname 'The Longest Red Light in Indonesia', 'Youth Snatcher Red Light', to 'Faith Tester Red Light'.

Related to this, the Bandung City Transportation Agency (Dishub) explained that the normal duration of a red light at the intersection is 5 minutes. The duration is adjusted to the volume of vehicle activity in the area.

The Head of the Bandung City Transportation Agency's Traffic Division, Khairur Rijal explained, the Bandung City Transportation Agency could apply a longer time priority to certain intersection legs to reduce vehicle density if needed.

"The time that we have set based on the results of our survey is based on the volume and activity of vehicles, normally that's that (5 minutes). But if there is a queue at the foot of a certain intersection, we can give more priority to the green time so that the length of the queue can be broken down," said Rijal.

The implementation of the priority time for traffic at the foot of the intersection where there is a queue is adjusted in the morning, afternoon, evening or night.

For information, the intersection of Jalan Soekarno Hatta - Jalan Ibrahim Adjie is a meeting point for motorists from East Bandung and South Bandung heading to Bandung City. Thus, the density of vehicle volume becomes a necessity.

He hopes that the prioritization of the green light at certain intersections can be understood by motorists to jointly create a smooth flow of traffic at all red light intersections. (ray)**
