This was emphasized by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, while visiting the Cicabe TPA, Friday 5 May 2023.

"If the Sarimukti landfill is back to normal in the next week or two, we will return to it," he said.

Ema explained that under normal conditions, around 1,200 tons of waste are transported to the Sarimukti TPA every day. With the process of normalizing the Sarimukti TPA, there are around 500-600 tons of waste that cannot be transported.

Therefore, one of the efforts that can be made by the Bandung City Government is to optimize the Cicabe TPA as a temporary final disposal site.

Ema also hopes that the public will not be provoked by information regarding the operation of the Cicabe TPA. He ensured that if the Sarimukti TPA was back to normal, then Bandung City's garbage disposal would return there.

"I hope people can understand. Hopefully conditions at the Sarimukti TPA will return to normal," he said.

Ema also said that in the next two days the Bandung City Government would improve the road access to the Cicabe TPA. The repair includes hardening the access road so that it can accommodate about 6 cubic meters of trucks that transport garbage.

"About the next two days, the transportation of waste to the Cicabe TPA will stop. We will improve the access first so that it is balanced with the capacity of the passing trucks," said Ema.

On the other hand, he also conveyed the development of the Sarimukti TPA, where there is a zone that is being rebuilt.

"There is access that will be maximized. When that's all normal, we'll be back there. We will provide education on waste management to the community," said Ema.

He is optimistic that efforts to deal with waste in the city of Bandung will gradually return to normal and will be better with several efforts and approaches such as educating the public.

“This city belongs together. Let's be responsible proportionally, which is the responsibility of the government, which is the participation of the community," he said. (ray)**
