For this reason, synergy, cohesiveness and solidity are needed between worker organizations, employers and the government.

This was stated by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna, while attending the Familiarity Night and Outbond May Day which were held by the Employment Service and the Bandung City Trade Union Communication Forum in Ciwidey, Bandung Regency, Friday 12 May 2023.

"Of course we must jointly guard the investment climate in the city of Bandung in order to present prosperous workers, advanced entrepreneurs and a dignified government," he said.

According to Ema, the Covid-19 pandemic had brought down the world economy, including the city of Bandung. Bandung City's economic rate had contracted to minus 2.78.

But now, the economic recovery continues. This, he continued, cannot be separated from the role of workers and employers.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has had extraordinary implications for aspects of life. Our poverty and open unemployment rates immediately jumped. Our Gini ratio continues to stretch," he said.

"But together, we can continue to survive and now we are in the stage of economic recovery," he added.

Ema also appreciated the various positive activities in the May Day series held by the Trade Union Communication Forum.

According to him, the commemoration of May Day in the city of Bandung also went well. Of course, this is the big role of the Trade Unions.

"Thank God in the city of Bandung, with a forum like this we can keep it conducive," he said.

Ema hopes that synergy and friendship can continue to be built between workers, employers and the government.

"There is no such thing as Superman, we are all super team," he said.

For information, this outbound activity is part of a series of commemorations of May Day 2023. Various stakeholders were present at this activity, namely workers' unions, Apindo, BPJS Employment, BPJS Health and the Bandung City Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS).

Apart from that, various positive activities were also held such as blood donors, social services and other activities. (rob)**
