Angklung City Bandung Festival 2023 Festive

The Bandung City Angklung Festival is an event held one year after the City of Bandung officially declared itself as the City of Angklung on 21 May 2022.

A number of angklung figures such as Taufik Hidayat Udjo, teachers, students, craftsmen, players, academics, observers, and community leaders attended this event.

This event was held thanks to the collaboration of the Bandung City Government and the Bandung City Angklung Lovers Community.

Since 14.00 WIB, residents of the city of Bandung, both young and old, flocked to the 2.6 hectare park. They witnessed various angklung performances combined with various musical genres from 500 angklung artists.

Acting Mayor of Bandung, Ema Sumarna said, the Bandung City Government is determined to continue to protect, preserve, develop and regenerate the angklung cultural art that already belongs to this world.

"We must support protection, sustainability and regeneration as an angklung city. Bandung is the city of Angklung and this has been recognized by Unesco as an intangible heritage," said Ema.

Ema asked the Culture and Tourism Office of the City of Bandung to be able to reflect on the culture of playing angklung in the City of Bandung with their daily activities.

"An example of music in hotels and restaurants can use angklung. Because angklung can fit into various musical genres, including pop, jazz, rock, dangdut. Because art activists in Bandung are also extraordinary," he said.

Ema said, with the philosophical values contained in the angklung, the people of Bandung City will continue to maintain harmony regardless of SARA with a spirit of cooperation, mutual cooperation and tolerance.
