To prevent flooding from standing water, Kodim 0618/BS collaborated with the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) and other stakeholders to work together to clean gutters and rivers, Thursday 7 December 2023. Not only that, they also cleaned the TPS in Gudang Selatan and Pasar Andir

Dandim 0618/BS Bandung City, Col Inf Donny Ismuali Bainuri said, apart from preventing flooding, this activity also aims to solve the emergency waste problem in Bandung City.

"Today we are at the location cleaning up rubbish on the Cikapundung River in the center of Bandung City and at the same time planting the riverbanks with hard trees to avoid erosion. Then we also carry out tree planting on critical lands," explained Donny.

His party also cleaned up rubbish at traditional markets and the South Gudang TPS. The waste was taken to the Citarum Harum Sector 7 Task Force to be processed into briquettes.

"In the South Gudang area, we transport or empty the TPS. The waste is directed to the Citarum Harum Task Force which is in sector 7. There they have a waste processing machine that can process any waste, both organic and non-organic, into briquettes," he explained.

He added, from the evaluation results, the main cause of flooding in Bandung City was rubbish in the river flow. Therefore, in several places cleaning is carried out.

"So we are also collaborating with the local government, Citarum Harum, and colleagues from BBWS, including Babinkamtibmas, FKPPI, Bandung City Environmental Service, DSDABM, and others. Everyone is united in working together to maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of the environment," he said.

He said that there are still several areas prone to flooding and natural disasters, especially landslides in the city of Bandung. These include the Ciumbuleuit and Ujungberung areas.

To prevent the dumping of rubbish into the river, his party also carries out routine patrols in collaboration with the Bandung City Satpol PP, and also involves the Linmas and Karang Taruna.

"We are also quite concerned because it is a fact that many people still throw rubbish in rivers. So apart from cleaning it, we also regularly carry out patrols to remind people not to throw rubbish into rivers," said Donny. (din)**
