Bodies of Two Students Drifting in Cikapundung River Found, Acting Mayor of Bandung Expresses Deep Condolences

Bambang expressed his condolences to the families of the victims for the disaster that occurred.

"On behalf of the Bandung City Government, I express my condolences for the disaster that occurred, both to the families of the victims and the Islamic boarding school, may the deceased have khusnul khotimah," said Bambang, who was met while carrying out his condolences to the Nurul Huda Ciumbuleuit Islamic Boarding School, Sunday 10 March 2024.

Bambang also reminded the residents of Bandung City to continue to increase their vigilance when the rainy season hits Bandung City.

"Of course, I remind and continue to urge the residents of Bandung City to increase their vigilance in the midst of the rainy season which is still hitting, especially in a season like this, water discharge can change drastically in an instant," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bandung City PB Diskar, Gun Gun Sumaryana, said that two of the three victims had been found. The first victim was found at around 08.50 WIB and was taken to Sartika Asih Hospital for identification.

The second victim is suspected of being swept away in Sector 9, Cililin, Bandung Regency. His body was evacuated by the Joint SAR Team at 10.00 WIB and taken to Sartika Asih Hospital.

“We are looking for the third victim. "We are currently carrying out a search," said Gun Gun.

Gun Gun also explained that previously there were four children who at the time of the incident were doing activities on the banks of the Cikapundung River.

Of the four children, one child managed to save himself. And three other children were swept away by the river current, allegedly due to heavy rainfall.

As is known, the BMKG forecasts that the rainy season in Bandung City will continue to decline and reach its peak until March 2024. (rob)**
