Es Cendol Elizabeth is a legendary culinary (drink) pioneered by H. Rohman since 1972 in the city of Bandung. Starting from a mobile cart that hung out in front of Mrs. Eli's house (Elizabeth Bag Shop) until it finally became Es Cendol Elizabeth.

The second child of H. Rohman (owner of Elizabeth's cendol ice), Nur Hidayah tells the history and journey of his parents' Elizabeth cendol ice.

"Mr (H. Rohman) has been selling cendol ice since 1972. At that time he was still using a mobile cart," said H. Rohman's second son to the Bandung City Public Relations team.

Around 1980, he said, the father, who was still using a cart at that time, often hung out in front of Eli's house.

"Mrs. Eli, who at that time was still working in a bag shop, often left rejected bags with Rohman," said Nur.

Until finally Eli's house became a bag shop and there was a sign for Elizabeth's bag shop, Rohman was still selling cendol ice.

"When someone ordered cendol, Rohman, who was not fluent in reading and writing, asked Eli to help write down the order," he said.

Uniquely at that time, Eli, who often wrote down cendol orders using Elizabeth's bag receipt, suggested that the name of the cendol should also be Elizabeth.

"This is the origin of the name Cendol Elizabeth," said Nur Hidayah.

Even at that time, around 1980, there was a moment when everyone who bought an Elizabeth bag would definitely be served H. Rohman's cendol.

"Now it might be called a welcome drink," he said.

When Ramadan arrives, Elizabeth's cendol in front of Eli's house (Jalan Oto Iskandar Dinata) often runs out of stock, aka it sells out.

"Because we often run out of cendol, there are buyers who ask where the factory is," he said.

Because it was not from a factory, aka home made, Rohman gave his address at Inhoftank.

"From there, many people started coming to the house to buy cendol," he said.

Until around 1998, the construction of Es Cendol Elizabeth Center began on Jalan Inhoftank Number 64.

Es Cendol Elizabeth has three branches, one in Inhoftank, one in Majalaya and one in Tasikmalaya.

Apart from that, now Es Cendol Elizabeth is available in a number of malls, its name is Es Cendol Queen Elizabeth.

"We sell Queen Elizabeth Cendol specifically per portion, aka cup, the coconut milk sauce is replaced with milk," he said.

Out of curiosity, the Public Relations Team asked the secret of Es Cendol Elizabeth so that it has regular customers and becomes one of the legendary culinary drinks in the city of Bandung.

Nur Hidayah answered, taste quality is number one.

"From the beginning until now, we have always maintained the quality of taste that has not changed," he said.

Apart from cendol, Es Cendol Elizabeth also sells goyobod ice, dry batagor, tofu meatballs and yamin meatballs.

Additional information, Es Cendol Elizabeth has topping variants, namely jackfruit and avocado.

Es Cendol Elizabeth Center is open every day from 09.00 WIB. Prices for dry food start from IDR 20,000-30,000, original cendol IDR 7,000 per glass portion, large wrapped cendol IDR 23,000 per liter, cendol topped with jackfruit IDR 10,000 per cup and cendol topped with avocado IDR 12,000 per cup.
