This was revealed when Bawaslu met with the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) on Wednesday, January 12, 2022,

For that matter, Plt. Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana said, will provide full support for the realization of elections with integrity and quality in the city of Bandung.

"There needs to be cooperation with the KPU so that the level of participation is better, so that there are no violations from election and regional election participants. The community also needs good political education so that we can both make this happen," said Yana.

As additional information, in 2019, the city of Bandung reached 86.45‎ percent‎. This figure is up 9 percent when compared to the 2014 election which reached 77.76 percent.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bandung City Bawaslu, Zaky Muhammad Zam Zam, conveyed several steps to 'warm up the engine' of politics in Bandung. One of them is the Participatory Supervisory Cadre School (SKPP).

"Every year this program has existed. But, indeed since the pandemic, we have limited online/online meetings. We attract people, especially millennials, with a maximum age limit of 30 years," explained Zaky.

During the SKPP, the participants will be provided with scientific training on democracy, especially those related to elections and election monitoring.

The results of this SKPP, Zaky said, are not only about how increasing the participation of Bandung citizens in the upcoming general election.

However, it is also hoped that it will increase the awareness of the people of Bandung to take part in overseeing the ongoing political process.

"For example, from the campaign stage. How can people be aware of money politics which is still entrenched to this day. Then also hate speech, especially with the development of digital information," said Zaky.

"Also the spread of hoax news. All of that is included in the types of election violations. We really care about this whole process," added Zaky.

In addition to SKPP, Zaky said, Bawaslu also optimizes through social media that includes political education. Not only in the network (online), political education is also carried out face-to-face to meet the public directly.

"Although it is limited due to Covid, we are still targeting various groups. Such as through the RW forum, groups of recitation women, and youth organizations," said Zaky.

Until now there has been no official decision on when the 2024 elections will take place. However, Zaky said, if the election is held in February 2024, then in July 2022 Bawaslu will prepare for the initial stage of socialization.

To date, more than 500 cadres have joined the SKPP. Of course, this long process requires support from various parties, especially the Bandung City Government.(din)**
