As an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) together with the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) distributed masks at 20 points, Saturday 19 February 2022.

The 20 points include the Kordon Buah Batu Market, Anyar Market, Kebon Kawung Train Station, Palasari Market, Kosambi Market, Leuwi Panjang Market, Cicaheum Terminal.

There are also Cijerah Market, Ujung Berung Market, Metro Indah Mall, Caringin Market and IP Pasirkaliki. Kiaracondong Market, Simple Market as well as Sadang Serang Market. Holy Market, Ciwastra Market, Gedebage Market, Andir Market and Simpang Dago Market.

At each point, BNPB and Bandung City Government distributed 10,000 masks. The distribution involved 40 members of the Bhabinkamtibmas, 40 members of the West Java Province BPBD, 40 volunteers from the Covid-19 Task Force BKR, and officers from the Bandung City Government.

The Acting Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana said, a number of points were chosen, including the market. This is because the market is one of the hotspots for violations of health protocols.

"Input from BNPB, market compliance is relatively low. There is also a lot of crowds," said Yana at the Bandung City Hall Plaza.

Meanwhile, the Head of BNPB, Major General TNI Suharyanto revealed, BNPB distributed 15 million masks until May 2022 throughout Indonesia.

"We continue to implement it in other areas. BNPB is targeting 15 million masks until May 2022. This is not divided equally, but we are seeing increasing cases. For West Java, it is around 1 million masks," he explained.

The distribution of masks is one of the efforts to make people more obedient to health protocols. In handling Covid-19, apart from vaccines, the main key to overcoming it is to comply with the procedures.

"One of our efforts as a nation is to fight this variant virus. Intensify vaccinations as well as enforce health protocols. We encourage wearing masks by providing masks," he said. (yan)**
