“There are four things to be considered before eating foods: the source, how it is processed, when it is eaten, and how much is it allowed to be eaten,” Ade Rai said.

To the public, Ade suggested regulating eating habit by fasting, limiting time to eat and stop eating.

“It is not like fasting in Ramadan. It means fasting starting from night to morning, or night to afternoon. So, the last meal is at 8 or 9 PM. Then, the next meal is at 8 or 9 PM. If possible, the next meal is at lunch, it is much better,” Ade Rai said.

He said that by limiting the food intake, the body would automatically use the fat reserve as energy, as fat is a source of energy reserve in the body.

“When our stomach is empty, fat will be burned. But, since there is food in the fat, it will always keep piling up,” Ade Rai emphasized.

Ade also encouraged people of Bandung City to reduce food intake containing carbohydrate and start consuming food of high protein and sources of natural fats.

It also includes simple exercises by performing activities tightening skeleton muscles.

“By exercising your skeleton muscles, it is an investment for our bones in our old age to make them harder to become hollow, and it is started by consuming natural food. For example, Sundanese food in which there are lots of vegetables,” he said.

In the same program, Dr. Prama Aditya, emphasized that the main factors that were frequently neglected by people to boost our immunity was getting enough and good-quality sleep.

“The most important priority is sleeping for 8 hours starting at 9-10 PM. Pulling all-nighters cause the disturbance of the production of melatonin and growth hormone,” Pratama emphasized.

He explained that melatonin has a strong anti-oxidant effect, causing to reduce inflammation in the body and boost immunity system.

“Growth hormone is useful to regenerate all cells in the body, in growth, and in healthy tissue maintenance, including the brain, this hormone is produced naturally during good-quality sleep and IF,” he said.

To Bandung Residents, Pratama suggested performing Intermittent Fasting (IF), a type of time-oriented diet. It is fasting that gives a long interval between the last and first meal in the next day. However, it is recommended to consume lots of mineral water.

“The benefits of IF are to reduce insulin and healing insulin resistance, and boosting immunity system by maintaining food intake, the food also has to be healthy,” he said.

In the Bandung Menjawab program, this time, the Acting Mayor of Bandung City, Yana Mulayna, also attended it. In line with Ade Rai, Yana also urged people of Bandung to stay alert, comply with health protocols, and apply healthy lifestyles amidst the increase of Covid-19 infection of the new variant.

“Covid-19 infection in Bandung keeps increasing with more than 1300 new cases every day, the positivity rate is still high,” Yana said.

Yana emphasized that bed availability in all hospitals have been occupied 54% by covid-19 patients out of 1981 beds provided by the Bandung City Government in 30 referral hospitals. (asy)**
