Pencak Silat Fornas 2022

This team consists of 10 pencak silat competing in one group.

The coach of Pencak Silat for the Central Heritage Title, Ade Suhana, said that his team had prepared for two full months before competing in Fornas.

"The preparation is quite time-consuming. Twice a week for two months we practice at the YPK Naripan Building," Ade told Public Relations of Bandung City, Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Of the 10 athletes who were deployed, two of them are still in elementary school, the rest are junior high school students.

"There is one person who has grown up too, the elder. Because in this themed pencak silat match, there is no age limit," he said.

In the themed team numbers, each team is required to display a pencak silat attraction with a storyline.

The West Java team chose a story set in the Dutch colonial era. It tells the story of the tragic life of a silat warrior named Barda Mandrawata from the Elang Putih silat school.

His life was shattered after his fiancé, Marni Dewanti, father, and all his classmates died at the hands of a mysterious warrior nicknamed the Angel Eyes.

"He took revenge, but at a 'payment' he had to lose his sight. He also accidentally found a hidden haunted cave and managed to learn rare knowledge in the cave," he explained.

Ade continued, after a long time Barda finally emerged from his exile. However, he was faced with a sad reality. It turns out that her lover is still alive, but has become someone's wife.

"Feeling very sad, he isolates himself and travels. He is also known as the blind man from the ghost cave. Together with his friend a monkey who faithfully accompanies him, he struggles to eradicate evil and evil to help the oppressed people," continued Ade.

Well-packaged and attractive through the movements and costumes worn, this team of pencak silat athletes also received the highest ratings from the judges.

"Other groups also brought legends from their respective regions. Some of the things judged were clothes, costumes, music, and appearances," he said.

One of the athlete participants who played the Angel Eyes, Adriansyah Austin Horianto said, since he was in 3rd grade, he has been interested in exploring pencak silat. Until now, he is in the 3rd grade of junior high school.

According to him, the most difficult thing in themed pencak silat is to train cohesiveness between participants.

"The preparation took two months. The difficulty was in making compact movements and storylines," said Adrian.

Not only this, Adrian also often won gold medals on several occasions. One of them is at the 2019 Hanifan YK Championship.

"In the near future there will be another team match in September. We will also prepare for that," he said. (din)**
