Ema: ASN Must Become an Agent of Change

State civil servants who are part of the government bureaucracy must be professional, advanced and modern. Therefore, ASN needs to become agents of change to change mindsets and work culture in a sustainable manner.

Strengthening change agents is also one of the bureaucratic reform strategies to create a professional bureaucracy with adaptive characteristics, integrity, free from corruption, collusion and nepotism.

So that ASN is able to serve the public in an accountable manner, and uphold the basic values ​​of the organization and the code of conduct of the state apparatus.

For this reason, the Bandung City Government held a Regional Apparatus Change Agent activity within the Bandung City Government, at the Grandia Hotel, Monday 21 November 2022.

"What must be possessed is an exemplary spirit, an example of giving change in the work environment," he said.

He added, the expected agents of change are selected individuals or groups who can be examples and role models in behavior, reflecting integrity and high performance in their organizational environment.

"This is expected to work integrated with each other or at least be accommodated in a forum to accelerate and strengthen changes in the organization," he said.

Ema added, in order to realize this goal, one of the important areas of change is a change in mindset and culture set.

According to Ema, changes in the mindset and work culture of the bureaucracy are aimed at realizing increased integrity and high bureaucratic performance.

"Integrity means individual members of an organization who prioritize commendable, disciplined and dedicated behavior so that they can encourage the establishment of a clean government free of corrupt practices," he said.

"While the meaning of high performance is an individual member of the organization who has a high work ethic, works professionally and is able to achieve the set performance targets. So as to be able to encourage the achievement of organizational performance targets," added Ema.

In addition, one of the important factors in terms of changing mindsets and work culture within an organization is the existence of real exemplary behavior from leaders and individual members of the organization.

"Organizational leaders have a wide circle of influence, so the leader's behavior will be an example for subordinates to act and behave," he said. (yan)**
