Bandung City Government Holds Disability Job Fair on December 3

In commemoration of National Disability Day, the Bandung City Social Service (Dinsos) will hold a job fair for persons with disabilities which will take place, at City Hall Plaza, December 3, 2022.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Bandung City Social Service, Soni Bakhtiyar in Bandung Responding, Wednesday 30 November 2022.

He said that the presence of this disability job fair was also a collaboration between the Bandung City Office and the Bandung City Manpower Office.

“We involve persons with disabilities in carrying out the mandate of the law. There is one percent employment for people with disabilities for private companies," he said.

Furthermore, Soni explained, the disability job fair would later involve persons with disabilities participating in a series of events.

"So the concept is from, by, and for people with disabilities," he said.

The vacancies available at the disability job fair include private companies that are members of the Bandung City PHRI, retail stores, modern shops, and malls in Bandung City.

Previously, data from the Bandung City Manpower Office noted that currently there are 159 disabilities spread across 68 companies in the city of Bandung.

The number of disabled people in the city of Bandung is 8,600 people. Soni explained, the number that has entered the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) is in the range of 5,500 people.

For information, International Day of Disabilities 2022 in Bandung City carries the theme Meaningful Participation Towards Sustainable Inclusive Development.

Finally, Soni hopes that the 2022 International Day of Disabilities will not be interpreted as a mere ceremony.

Far from that, he hopes that people with disabilities can have a fighting spirit and be competitive so that they grow into superior individuals.
