Bandung Municipal Government Assesses Construction of Median Holy Road
The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) will review the construction of a road median along Jalan Surapati-Cicaheum (Suci). This is to discipline drivers who carelessly take other routes so that traffic jams often occur.
"Perform a study analysis by the Transportation Agency, it is better to make a permanent median. I asked the Transportation Agency to make road medians. This can force people to be orderly in traffic," said Acting Mayor of Bandung Ema Sumarna, Friday 12 May 2023.
Not only that, the median also functions to control illegal parking that occurs along Jalan Surapati in front of the Itenas Campus.
"We also want to look at the potential for traffic jams, for example on Jalan Surapati. There can actually be 4 lanes. Even though the road is quite wide, the fire started fighting over each other, causing traffic jams," he said.
He admitted that it took quite a long time to educate the public about this idea. Therefore, he invited all camat and lurah to synergize with related regional apparatus organizations (OPD).
"As the level closest to the community, 75 percent of the sub-district and lurah activities must go to the field. This education is long in nature, we will continue to communicate. Then technically we will coordinate with related agencies," he said. (din)**
