"This is a form of appreciation from the Bandung City Government to groups, individuals, institutions and the world of education for their shared commitment to preserving cultural heritage buildings," said Bandung City Regional Secretary, Ema Sumarna at the 2023 Cultural Heritage Award event, at the Preanger Hotel, Monday 4 December 2023.

He explained that preserving cultural heritage buildings is an important part of managing historical places.

"Of course, a cultural heritage building is a heritage. It has architectural and intellectual civilization value, because you can imagine the year it was built and how it still survives today," he said.

This effort, continued Ema, is not only the government's responsibility, but also requires active community participation. Community involvement and volunteerism are very important, because they are in touch with this cultural heritage.

"This must be maintained, it is a strong characteristic of this city. For example, Gedung Sate, Gedung Merdeka, City Hall Building, there is also the Isola Building. These are objects that photographers are hunting for," he said.

Currently, Ema revealed, there will be a revision of Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 7 of 2018 concerning Cultural Heritage Management.

"Currently, the DPRD is revising several things. Of course, adapting to current conditions," he said.

He said that another incentive provided by the government was in the form of a reduction in Land and Building Tax (PBB) for buildings that had been designated as Cultural Heritage.

"It's natural that every year the Bandung City Government gives appreciation, one of which is reducing the value of land and building taxes. Maybe in the future we can think about it again for those who currently play a role in preserving, this must be accommodated in regulations," he explained.

In the same place, the Head of the Bandung City Culture and Tourism Department, Arif Syaifudin, revealed that the Bandung City Government presents the Cultural Heritage Award every year.

"This award is also an effort to echo the spirit of conservation so that it becomes an inspiration for society at large," he said.

Arif said that currently the 6th Cultural Heritage Award event has been held since 2016.

"This activity is the 6th since 2016. There are 44 owners or managers of cultural heritage," he said.

The incentives provided by the government are in the form of a reduction in Land and Building Tax (PBB) for buildings that have been designated as Cultural Heritage in the amount of 70 percent for Class A Cultural Heritage Buildings. around 60 percent for Group B Cultural Heritage Buildings.
